Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Electric Pants (“the App”, “we”, “our”, “us”) handles information when you use our iOS and iPadOS applications.

The Short Version

We don’t collect your data. Electric Pants is designed to be completely private:

  • No account required
  • No personal data collection
  • No tracking or analytics (only anonymous crash reports)
  • No ads
  • All data stored locally and synced via your iCloud (not our servers)

Information We Collect

None. Electric Pants does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on our servers. We don’t have servers for user data — there’s nothing to collect.

Information Stored on Your Device and iCloud

The following information is stored on your device and synced via iCloud:

  • Feed subscriptions: The URLs of RSS, Atom, and Reddit feeds you subscribe to
  • Feed content: Articles, images, and media fetched from your subscribed feeds
  • Folders: Any folders you create to organize your feeds
  • Read status: Which articles you’ve read
  • App preferences: Your settings and customizations

This data syncs across your devices via Apple’s iCloud service. It is stored in your personal iCloud account — we have no access to it. Your data never touches our servers.

Network Requests

Electric Pants makes network requests only to:

  1. Fetch feed content from the RSS/Atom/Reddit sources you subscribe to
  2. Load images and media embedded in articles

These requests go directly to the feed sources you’ve chosen — not through our servers. We have no visibility into what feeds you subscribe to or what articles you read.

Third-Party Services

Electric Pants does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Diagnostics & Crash Reporting

To improve app stability, Electric Pants collects anonymous crash reports and error diagnostics via Datadog. This data includes:

  • Crash logs and stack traces
  • Device type and OS version
  • App version

This diagnostic data contains no personal information, no account identifiers, and no information about your feeds or reading activity. It is used solely to identify and fix bugs.

Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud using Apple’s secure frameworks
  • iCloud sync uses your personal Apple ID — we have no access to your iCloud data
  • We do not have access to your data at any point

OPML Import/Export

Electric Pants supports OPML import and export for feed portability. When you export your feeds:

  • The OPML file is created locally on your device
  • You control where it goes (save to Files, share via AirDrop, etc.)
  • We never see or store your exported data

Children’s Privacy

Electric Pants does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains no account system, no social features, and no data collection of any kind.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the App or on our website with a new “Last updated” date. Since we don’t collect any data, changes are typically clarifications rather than material changes to our practices.
